William Bates Chartered Architect
I am a RIBA registered independent Chartered Architect specialising in the residential sector, with a comprehensive portfolio that includes property renovations and extensions, together with new build houses, ranging in size from small holiday bungalows to million pound plus projects. I have extensive experience in the design and contract administration of house extensions, house conversions, alterations and refurbishment projects, including work on numerous listed buildings and more unusual properties such as barns and oast houses. In addition, I have also worked on several commercial projects, including office schemes, business parks and retail units.
In addition to my architecture work, I also have over 25 years experience as an architect ‘Expert Witness’ in construction disputes of all kinds. I am a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, The Academy of Experts and The Society of Expert Witnesses, as well as being included on the RIBA panel of Expert Witnesses since 2018. I am experienced in the examination of drawings and other evidence, and the preparation of expert witness reports. I have particular experience involving claims of professional negligence and disputes concerning professional fees between client and architect. So if you have a dispute with your architect or builder, I may be able to assist you.
My architect commissions are generally confined to East Sussex and Kent, but I undertake my expert witness work anywhere within England and Wales.
